Howdy friends!
Ready for some super sexy salsa???!! The kind that makes your mouth taste garlicky so you can torture your loved ones with your dragonbreath??? HA! No really, this stuff is super good. I got these garlic scape thingys in my CSA bin last week, and for the life of me could NOT figure out what the eff to do with them. They look like long chives, but taste like raw garlic. Sounds pretty easy to work with, but I got a LOT of them.
The first thing I did, was use them in a fruit salsa.
Here's your recipe (about 2 cups):
4 ripe apricots
2 tablespoons chopped garlic scapes
1/4 medium sized red bell pepper
1 jalapeno, seeded and finely chopped
a handful of cilantro, chopped
1/2 cup chopped white onion
the juice of 1 lime
salt to taste
pepper to taste
Toss all of these goodies in a medium sized bowl and you have apricot garlic scape salsa! I served with grilled chicken and some green beans. YUM!
Any other ideas for the garlic scapes???? I would LOVE to hear them. This recipe only used about 1 strand, and I've got about 10 more. :)
Have a great Monday!

Bloglove: 365 Lucky Days
Oh. My. God.
Check out this AH-MAZING blog, 365 Lucky Days. I don't normally drool over art, but I just DIED over these. Like, Veruca Salt "I want it NOW" died.
I have seen quite a few of Lucky Jackson's pieces on her blog, but she caught me hook, line, and sinker with her "I always wanted to be a Tenenbaum" series. Check em out:
What an inspiring lady, and an inspiring project. I will definitely be adding one of these pieces to my collection. :)
Thanks so much Lucky Jackson! (I heart you.)

Peach bourbon attempt #1: TOTAL fail.
Well......... the peach bourbon I've been dreaming up in my head did not turn out as I'd planned.
WOOPS!
First off, I accidentally started with whiskey rather than bourbon.
Then, I thought that 4 peaches for a half gallon would be plenty. I was so so wrong.
Eeeeeiiiiiiiwww......... this just looks like a science experiment gone wrong. :)
So, here's what I did:
Peel and slice 4 peaches, and place in 1/2 gallon ofbourbon whiskey. Let sit for 5 days. Drain the bourbon whiskey and voila! You have peach bourbon whiskey.
When I realized that this just tasted like straight whiskey, I decided to put the peaches in a blender and blend them in. Still nothing.
Then, I added 1/2 gallon of peach nectar. Still nothing. DRAT!
Anyways........... in the end it was fantastic as just a whiskey. Mixed it with some lemons and some homemade sweet tea and I was a happy girl.
I'll get you next time peach bourbon............ next time!

Stupendous Sunday: 7/22/12
Happy Sunday friends! What a crazy, manic, beautiful, disgusting, heartfelt, friendly, roller-coaster of a 2 weeks this has been for me. Here are some ups and downs:
Here's to the next 2 weeks!
- Worked my booty off with Jared cooking, planning, organizing, prepping for our engagement party.
- Found out in the middle of the week that am the proud owner of a nasty sinus infection
- Had my party anyways dammit! Those meds could wait....... And what a fantastic party it was. See gorgeous pics here.
- Started meds, only to discover that my body reacts with
super fundisgusting bodily functions. After days of this I had had enough. Those meds went in the trash! - Got some new meds.
- Went to my BF's going away party, where I got to see lots of really wonderful old friends, but also had to avoid the reality shock that my leaning post is going to be gone.
- Attended a salsa dancin bday bash! On meds! It was fun anyways though......
- Woke up to my little pupperoni sick as a dog (literally!). Oh boy........
Here's to the next 2 weeks!
