Happily ever April

It's April 30th my friends!! Holy sheesh.

I had some freakin GREAT times in April.  This year is just going from bad to amazing.  I'm super into it. 

I shared a little EGGstra special gathering that I plan to make a yearly tradition.

I shared my Kitchen Mesa adventure!  Oh my god.  This was absolutely spectacular.

I shared the recipe for my best friend Meghan's New Mexico red chile sauce.  Mine's totally gone now.  Wah-wah.

I shared a super sappy story about Elvis, my grandpa.

I got a freakin job!!!  It's going really well too.

Those were definitely the highlights of my life this month.  I know I haven't been posting as much now that I'm a workin lady, but I've still got so many tricks up my sleeve.  May will probably be a little bit barren on the bloggie, but I'm hoping that just weeds out the crappy posts that nobody likes anyways. 

For May, I've got a special little surprise new series I've been working on.  Stay tuned on the 5th!!!  I've also got a couple of DIY's that I put together in April, but haven't found the time to post yet, some cocktails that I've been SUPER into, and of course some more peeks at my everyday life.  I'm hoping to catch up with all of you soon!!

Stupendous Sunday {4/28/13}

It's a couch kinda Sunday for me this week.  I went to a wedding last night and had a total blast!  Buuuuuuut....... this wine-o had a bit too much wine, and am playing catch up with my TV shows while I nurse myself back to normal with some Gatorade.  ha!

Life's been pretty hectic the last 2 weeks!  With the weather starting to warm up, we've been little social bees, and like an idiot I haven't taken enough photos.  Wah-wah.

5 Things

Happy weekend my blog friends!!  I'm seriously pooped.  And could eat a freakin horse.  This whole back to work thing has kicked my ass!  BUT........ I've got a free sec on this Friday night to share a little post.

A little ways back the uber cool Jennifer from Grits and Moxie tagged me in a 5 things post.  Now you are forced to get to know me a bit better (har-har) by learning 5 unusual things.  About me.  All about me.

Here goes:

1. Nerd Alert!!! I love Joss Whedon.  And Buffy the Vampire Slayer is one of my go to comfort shows.  I tried to hate it, I really did!  But....... I got sick with pneumonia once and ended up watching like 2 seasons in a week.  My roommate had them all on DVD.  BEST. SHOW. EVER.  I even went to Comicon a few years ago to see some of the cast speak.  Oh man...... good times.  I even read the Buffy comics.  super cool.

2. Grape Laffy Taffy is my fave candy.  I actually really really hate ALL grape flavored anything.... except grape laffy taffy.  Just can't get enough.  There are so good!

3. I had shark teeth as a kid.  HA!  Kind of.  I ended up with a teeny teeny mouth and HUGE freakin teeth.  So, before I had 8 teeth pulled (yes, 8), I had 2 rows of bottom teeth.  Thank you orthodontist!

4. Speaking of orthodontist, I had gold braces.  No joke.  Gold freakin braces.  As a teenager.  I was THAT girl.  My mom thought silver wouldn't go with my complexion.  Holy moly my mom and I are sooooo different.  I was mortified.  For 4 years. 

5. Speaking of gold, I drive a gold car.  A super beat up 2002 Chevy Cavalier.  A GOLD Chevy Cavalier.  It's got lightning stickers on the side that are all rubbed off except the remaining white, and a homemade gold gangsta medallion that says TDawg.  Had it for about 10 years.  Poor thing.  Perfect car to blare Judy Garland with the windows down.  heh.

Apartment peek {the bar}

Howdy dudes.

Thought I'd share a little peek into my teeny apartment.  Every time I post a pic with a glimpse of our bar, I get TONS of comments about it.  I like it too.  :)

We created our bar in a super awkward small corner of our dining room.  It's one of those that can't be left blank or empty, but you just don't know what the eff to do with.  I had been using an old vintage sewing table (neutered of it's sewing abilities, poor thing) as a desk of sorts, and realized that it fit perfectly in this corner.  A little thrifted wicker tray and some cool pics on the wall, and voila!  Bar!

 

It's actually WAY too small to hold all the booze in our house.  We are some serious boozehounds.  But at least what's on display makes us seem classy!!!

Style lust {Karen Walker's Forever campaign}

I'm sure you've all seen these floating around the blogosphere already, but if I wasn't in love with Karen Walker before (I TOTALLY WAS!), I definitely am now.  The ever fab lady teamed up with blogger Ari Seth Cohen of Advanced Style to create a campaign that makes me wish I was as hot as these oldies but goodies.

Let's reminisce {about good ol' grandpa Elvis}

haha!  Just kidding.  He wishes.  Seriously..... he does.  He thinks he looks and sounds just like him.  I bet you think I'm joking..... but I'm totally not.

 My grandfather has always been my father figure.  Always.  You know those baby photos you have of you sleeping on a sleeping dude?  I've got those...... with my grandfather.  My mother was a teen when I was born, so I lived with my grandparents until the age of 2.  Stole his heart this little lady did!!

Growing up, he would take me out to dinner every other Friday night.  Fancy steakhouse dinner!  Then, we would watch the movie of my choice (ALWAYS Disney's Robin Hood), and then watch a movie of his choice (ALWAYS a super scary horror flick).  Sounds a bit strange now with the horror movies.... but hey.... it wasn't perfect...... it was RAD, although I'm pretty sure Pet Cemetary scarred me for life!  He would then sneak me bites of my grandma's ice cream, and I'd fall asleep on the couch.  The next morning I got egg mcbozeman's (egg mcmuffins with no egg) for breakfast, and more Robin Hood.

One of my favorite memories of my grandpa, is when he bought himself the complete 1968 Elvis Comeback Special on VHS, and we spent an entire day watching it together, like 3 times.  He sang the whole time, and I thought he was SOOOOOOO nerdy!!!  Elvis was SO not Madonna or Tiffany.  Sheesh grandpa.  

I remember making vomit noises when he turned this up super loud and sang and danced:

 

Or thinking this was the prettiest song I'd ever heard, but could never admit to him at the time:

 I've been trying to decide on that perfect song to walk down the aisle to at my wedding.  Arm and arm with grandpa.  Elvis was my first thought.  DUH!  Haven't been able to pin down one that I feel comfy walking down the aisle to though...... all the good ones are about sex!  That would just be weird.  There will be TONS o Elvis songs during the reception though.  And I hope grandpa belts it out and dances like he's 25 all over again.  

Love that guy....... so much.

 Is it weird that I think Elvis a mega sexy fox now????  I'll leave you with my fave Elvis track:

Tricia's wishlist {April 2013}

Ah April....... the quintessential newbie Spring month.  YESSSSSSS!

1. This adorable spring dress!!!!  I'd LIVE in this if I had it.
2. These mid century low ball glasses.  I want a set of these so badly!
3. This new book by Michael Pollan.  Can this man do any wrong???  nope.
4. This little dwarf citrus tree!!  Endless cocktail citrus AND a citrus scent.  YES!
5. This perfect little spring purse by Orla Kiely. 

I want to read this book, wearing this dress with some sunnies on the deck, sipping a cocktail out of these glasses, garnished with some meyer lemons from one of these trees, with this purse at my side.  Perfect spring afternoon!

Stupendous Sunday {4/14/13}

Well, the rain came back.  But the sun has definitely been peeking it's little head out every now and again.  I tried to enjoy the moments and captured a bit:

This has been my lunch a LOT lately.  Getting a little uninspired by apples, and just waiting for spring produce to grow.

 Was able to wear some cute spring flats!!!  Still with tights though. :)
